Redwood Creek Overlook is perhaps the best spot in Redwood National Park to catch a sunset. Situated at over 1,000ft above the ocean it overlooks, this location often sees cloud inversions near sunset sweep through the redwoods below.
It’s location near Lady Bird Johnson Grove makes it an easy add on to the end of a day.
Best Time to Visit Redwood Creek Overlook

The best time to visit the Lady Bird Johnson Grove is at sunset to watch the sun dip beneath the ocean. If you’re lucky you may see a cloud inversion!
Sunrise is also a great time to watch the sunlight filter across the magnificent redwood forest.

Redwood Creek Overlook is located near the little-visited Bald Hills and very popular Lady Bird Johnson Grove. If you’re looking for a nearby camp spot try Gold Bluffs Beach and be sure to see Fern Canyon while you’re in the area!
