What’s happening to Dalton Corridor / D-1 Lands
Roughly 2.1 million acres of BLM public land north of the Yukon River along the Dalton Highway and trans-Alaska pipeline corridor, part of the vast 28-million-acre D-1 lands protected from mining for half a century. In February 2026 the Interior Department revoked the withdrawals that shielded these lands, opening them to mining and mineral leasing, and moved to convey some of the Dalton corridor to the State of Alaska. A ten-group coalition sued in March 2026 to stop the giveaway of some of the wildest country in North America.
