The situation
What’s happening to Chugach
Tidewater glaciers calving into fjords, salmon runs sustaining brown bears and eagles by the thousands, 5.4 million acres wrapping around Prince William Sound. The Chugach is still recovering from the Exxon Valdez disaster. Rolling back its Roadless Rule protections would open old-growth forests to logging in a landscape that hasn’t finished healing from the last industrial catastrophe.
