What’s happening to Joshua Tree
The namesake trees are dying. Joshua trees cannot migrate fast enough to escape the heat reshaping the Mojave, and models predict the park could lose most of them within decades. Development on every side fragments the corridors these trees would need to shift northward and uphill. A slow-motion extinction playing out in front of three million visitors a year.
