How they started
The Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen’s Associations is the largest organization of commercial fishermen on the West Coast. It fights for the rivers, the flows, and the salmon that coastal fishing communities live or die by, and it is regularly in federal court over how the government manages water and protects fish. It is a reminder that defending public lands and waters is not just an environmental cause, it is an economic one for the people who work them.
Every year they sign one sentence and file it with the federal government: “To provide services and support to aid and protect fisheries and the fishing industry.”
