The national forests

There are 155 national forests in the United States, and they get a fraction of the attention the parks do. That is a mistake we would like to help correct.

We know these places well. The U.S. Forest Service has hired us to film its forests more than 155 times, and the years we spent doing that work convinced us the forests deserve the same treatment we give the parks. So we are documenting them, one at a time, as part of our More Than Just Forests series, which began as Your Forests Your Future.

The case for the forests is simple. They are public land, they belong to you, and most of them you can walk into without a reservation, a timed entry, or a crowd. The guides below are built the same way our park guides are, on our own fieldwork, and where the written guide is still in the works we link the film.
