Data centers in Tennessee: common questions

How many data centers are in Tennessee?
More Than Just Parks tracks 73 active data center facilities in Tennessee, each citing a public source: 60 operating, 4 under construction and 9 proposed. 18 more were canceled, withdrawn, suspended or blocked.
How much electricity do Tennessee's data centers use?
We don’t publish a state total, and the reason matters: about seven in ten facilities here never disclose a capacity, so any sum would look like a census of Tennessee's data center load while leaving out the sites that stayed quiet. Each facility page shows the figure its own source states. A single large campus can draw as much power as a small city.
Are Tennessee data centers near protected land?
0 of the tracked facilities in Tennessee sit within 10 miles of protected public land, measured to the real boundary of the nearest national park, wilderness area, wildlife refuge or conservation area; none sit within a single mile.
Which county in Tennessee has the most data centers?
Davidson County has the most, with 16 tracked data centers, followed by Shelby County (16) and Williamson County (7).
Are there proposed data centers in Tennessee?
Yes. We track 9 proposed data centers in Tennessee, including Cielo Clarksville Data Center, Project MidSpan Data Center (Bradley County) and Legacy Power Capital Innovation District (The Walk, Union Avenue). None of them sit within 10 miles of protected public land.
Who is building data centers in Tennessee?
The most active operators in Tennessee are Flexential (3 sites), xAI (3 sites) and DC BLOX (2 sites), counted by sites, not megawatts.

An email when a data center lands in the record here, proposed, breaking ground or stopped, with its size and how close it sits to protected land.

Every facility on this page cites a public record we can link to: industry reporting, facility trackers, company announcements, and local planning and utility filings, cross-referenced against protected public land. Part of the Data Center Tracker from More Than Just Parks. A facility shows a capacity only where its own source states one.
