The origin

How they started

Wild Horse Education calls itself a small organization with a dedicated volunteer base that educates the public and media and advocates for change in the way wild horses and burros are managed on public land. Founded by journalist Laura Leigh, it documents roundups and range conditions and takes that record into a courtroom when other avenues fail.

How they run

Small and lean

We don’t hold a detailed federal filing for this group. Groups this size often file the short form or run below the IRS reporting line, so there’s no budget or crew to show here, and that’s no knock: some of the sharpest local defense in the country runs this way.
