What’s happening to Prince William Forest Park
The largest protected natural area in the Washington region, 16,000 acres of Piedmont forest and the restored Quantico Creek watershed just off Interstate 95. In July 2026 a data center developer proposed swapping 73 acres of its wetlands for 36 acres of the national park to build four 100-foot data center buildings and a substation along the park boundary. The deal would push heavy industrial development, and its noise, light, and water demands, into one of the last large forests in fast-developing Prince William County.
