The situation
What’s happening to Green Mountain
Vermont’s only national forest is being carved open under two parallel logging plans that together could alter 25,000 acres of New England woodland. The Telephone Gap project drew more public opposition than any Forest Service proposal in the state’s history, 2,300 comments, most opposed, and the agency approved it anyway. A separate directive allows 14,000 more acres of cuts with no public input at all.
