“The Cloud Foundation is dedicated to the protection and preservation of wild horses and burros on public lands in the American West.”
The origin
The Cloud Foundation is a Colorado nonprofit that grew out of founder Ginger Kathrens’ fear for the West’s wild horses, after her Nature series documentaries made the Pryor Mountain stallion Cloud and his family famous. It works to keep wild horses and burros free on public lands, urging people to talk to lawmakers, comment to the BLM and document roundups.
How they run
We don’t hold a detailed federal filing for this group. Groups this size often file the short form or run below the IRS reporting line, so there’s no budget or crew to show here, and that’s no knock: some of the sharpest local defense in the country runs this way.
