Wyoming has become the epicenter of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act’s mandatory quarterly lease auctions. The BLM is offering 268 parcels covering 348,531 acres in a September 2026 sale and 274 parcels covering 363,618 acres in December 2026, the largest of the year, spread across seven field offices from Buffalo to Rock Springs. Many parcels sit in greater sage-grouse priority habitat and big-game winter range, the core of the state’s wildlife. The OBBB resets royalty rates downward and forces a replacement sale within 30 days if too many parcels go unsold.
