The situation
What’s happening to Death Valley
Salt flats, volcanic craters, sand dunes, and the lowest point in North America, all within the largest national park outside Alaska. Thousands of unpatented mining claims persist inside its boundaries. The push to reopen them for lithium treats this park as a stockpile rather than a sanctuary.
