The Jellico Mountains of southeastern Kentucky are next on the chopping block. The Forest Service greenlit a 40-year logging plan covering 10,000 acres including nearly a thousand acres of clear-cuts. In a landscape already ravaged by decades of coal mining, the proposal reads less like management and more like compounding injury.
