What’s happening to Bear-Palmer Project
A commercial logging project on the Custer Gallatin National Forest in the drainages around Jardine, just north of Yellowstone National Park and the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. The roughly 4,400-acre project includes clearcutting, thinning, prescribed burning, and temporary road construction. The Forest Service advanced it under emergency infrastructure authorities, eliminating the administrative objection process that normally lets the public challenge a decision before logging begins.
