The BLM has classified 280 acres of public land in Graham County, Arizona, as suitable for transfer to the City of Safford under the Recreation and Public Purposes Act. Though the R&PP Act is typically used for parks and community facilities, it's being applied here to expand a municipal landfill for solid waste disposal. This affects nearly 300 acres of Arizona public land that would move out of federal ownership and into permanent industrial use.
