NOAA's received a permit application from an Arizona State University researcher to conduct scientific research involving six species of endangered and threatened sea turtles. The permit would allow Dr. Jesse Senko to 'take' these turtles, which under the ESA means interacting with them in ways that'd otherwise be prohibited, such as capturing or handling them for study. This affects all six federally protected sea turtle species found in U.S. waters.

University Dr., Tempe, AZ 85281, has applied in due form for a permit to take green (Chelonia mydas), hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata), Kemp's ridley (Lepidochelys kempii), leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea), loggerhead (Caretta caretta), and olive ridley (L. olivacea) sea turtles for purposes of scientific research.
