    DOE picks four sites: Idaho National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Paducah, Savannah River

    Of the 16 sites, Secretary Wright selected four for private developers to build and power AI data centers, and DOE followed with solicitations at each through the fall of 2025.

    Four Cold War reservations with their own transmission became the federal government’s data center inventory, with no county vote and no zoning hearing.
