   A public-land transfer for data center water cleared one chamber with little notice.

   H.R. 655 would hand 150 acres of Mount Hood National Forest to The Dalles

   Rep. Cliff Bentz introduced the Dalles Watershed Development Act, directing the Forest Service to convey about 150 acres of the Mount Hood National Forest to the City of The Dalles, Oregon, at no cost, for the city’s water system. The water demand is the city’s data centers, led by Google’s campus.

   The first bill to move national forest land for a data center was about the water, not the building.
