11 AMAZING SPOTs for acadia national park wedding

Maine

FRAZER POINT PICNIC AREA

On the "Quiet Side" of Acadia's Schoodic Peninsula, Frazer's Point is named after the first free African American, Thomas Frazer, who lived here and ran his own business.  Views of the Mount Desert Narrows and Grindstone Neck make an excellent backdrop.

SCHOODIC POINT

At the tip of the Schoodic Peninsula, this dramatic backdrop punctuates a marriage that can handle rough seas and calm waters.

Thompson island

Tucked on an island between the mainland and Mount Desert Island, this popular birding spot is also a great wedding backdrop. Plus, no Bar Harbor crowds to deal with during nuptials.

SEAWALL PICNIC AREA

The gem awaits on the southwest side of the island, near Bass Harbor Lighthouse.  The only downside is this section of the park is usually first to be impacted by storms.

LITTLE HUNTER's BEACH

Too many people don't even know that Little Hunter's Beach is just off the Park Loop Road between Otter Point and Seal Harbor. A cliffside walk for the adventurous couple awaits here, too.

FABBRI PICNIC AREA

Named after Alessandro Fabbri, a Navy commander who operated a radio station critical to World War 1. The picnic area has restrooms, walking trails, and easy access to Otter Cove's overlook.

OTTER POINT

Just beyond Otter Cliffs, Otter Point offers a wonderful viewpoint, especially for those who would love an idyllic Acadia sunset ceremony.

OTTER CLIFF

If you're going to take the big leap into marriage, might as well be cliffside at the ceremony.  Otter Cliff is a great spot for adventurous couples who love rockclimbing.

OCEAN DRIVE

One of the most scenic stretches of Park Loop Road is known as Ocean Drive, with sweeping vistas on the ragged coastline. This is one of the most congested parts of the park, so choose a time when crowds are lower if you want to say "I Do" here.

SAND BEACH

THE J.P. Morgan bought this beachfront property in 1910 for his granddaughter when she married Herbert Satterlee. They lived a happy life here, summering on the sandy shores. She donated the land to Acadia National Park in 1949.  It's also one of the most stunning spots in the park.

CADILLAC MOUNTAIN

Take your wedding ceremony to new heights as you top Cadillac Mountain and exchange vows 1,530' above Mount Desert Island.  Heads up: Ceremonies are not allowed at sunrise or sunset and vehicle reservations are required.
