EPA Region 10 is launching a programmatic environmental review of its Contaminated ANCSA Lands Assistance Program, which funds Alaska Native entities to investigate and clean up contamination on lands conveyed under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. The agency's initiating both a NEPA Environmental Assessment and Section 106 historic preservation consultation to evaluate cleanup impacts on archaeological sites, subsistence resources, and wetlands. This process will affect Alaska Native Regional and Village Corporations, federally recognized tribes, and Alaska Native nonprofits across the state.

EPA Region 10 intends to prepare a programmatic Environmental Assessment (EA) pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), 42 U.S.C. 4321-4347, to evaluate the potential environmental and sociocultural effects of the EPA Contaminated Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) Lands Assistance Program.
