The BLM's Oregon/Washington office is kicking off a revision of two Resource Management Plans covering northwestern, coastal, and southwestern Oregon, with a full Environmental Impact Statement required under NEPA. The revision is driven by wildfire impacts, forest health concerns, barred owl management, and pressure to increase timber production on O&C lands, which have seen significantly reduced harvests in recent decades. This process will affect how millions of acres of federally managed O&C lands are managed for timber, wildlife habitat, and other uses, and it's open for public scoping comments now.

In support of the Oregon and California Revested Railroad Lands Act of 1937 (O&C Act), in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended (NEPA), and the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976, as amended, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Oregon/Washington (OR/WA) State Office intends to prepare a revision of the Northwestern and Coastal Oregon Resource Management Plan and Southwestern Oregon Resource Management Plan (hereafter, the RMPs) with an associated environmental analysis.
