The BLM received an application from Prairie Shores, LLC to disclaim federal interest in an unplatted peninsula in Lake County, SD, which would effectively transfer that land out of federal ownership as part of a private land purchase. If granted, the Recordable Disclaimer of Interest would mean the U.S. government no longer claims the surface and subsurface rights to that parcel. The public has an opportunity to comment before the BLM moves forward with granting the disclaimer.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) received an application for a Recordable Disclaimer of Interest (RDI) from Prairie Shores, LLC/ Redstone Law Firm, LLP pursuant to the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (FLPMA), as amended, and BLM regulations for the surface and subsurface estates. Prairie Shores, LLC is purchasing land and requests the United States disclaim the unplatted peninsula as federally owned. This notice is intended to inform the public of the pending application and give notice of the BLM's intent to grant the requested RDI and provide a public comment period for the RDI.
