Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
Before January 1, 2027, photograph each of the four park campgrounds while the agency still runs them: entrance signs with fees and rules, site numbers, tables, fire rings, restrooms, and how full they are on a normal weekend.
A hundred miles of Blue Ridge crest an hour from Washington, with Skyline Drive, black bears, and old-growth hollows. In 2026 the Park Service awarded a 15-year concession contract that for the first time hands every commercial operation in the park, lodging, food, retail, stables, and all four campgrounds the agency once ran itself, to a single private operator.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
