Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
From shore or the harbor in the Northern Marianas or American Samoa, photograph the boats tied up and heading out, dated, so we know who was fishing before the commercial fleet starts working the monument waters.
Two of the most remote and pristine protected places under American jurisdiction: the Mariana Trench Marine National Monument near the Northern Mariana Islands and the Rose Atoll Marine National Monument near American Samoa. On June 11, 2026 a presidential proclamation reopened both to commercial fishing, the first extraction rollback of these Pacific monuments.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
