Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
Photograph the big old Douglas firs themselves: stand with a pack or a person at the trunk for scale, then shoot up the trunk to the canopy. Get standing dead snags and the shaded, layered forest floor too.
Named with either obliviousness or cruelty. The Last Chance timber sale targets some of the last intact old-growth Douglas fir on BLM land in southwestern Oregon. Trees that survived the timber wars of the 1990s and the spotted owl crisis, being offered for sale as if the lessons of that era were written in disappearing ink.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
