Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
Walk the beach where park sand ends at the mill property and photograph the waterline itself: foam, colored plumes, orange or gray stains in the sand, dead fish. Same spot, same framing, every visit, with the date.
Fifteen miles of Lake Michigan shoreline squeezed between steel mills and subdivisions, proof that wildness can persist in the most unlikely places. One of the most biodiverse parks in the entire system. Industrial pollution from adjacent facilities keeps contaminating its soils and waters, and nobody is held accountable.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
