Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
Walk the East Fork of the South Fork of the Salmon River where it runs through the mine area. Photograph the open channel, clear water and gravel bars, plus any salmon, redds or fish you see moving through.
The East Fork of the South Fork of the Salmon River, one of the last strongholds for endangered Chinook salmon, runs directly through the Stibnite mine project area. The mine would block fish passage for years and leave acid drainage that could last centuries. The Forest Service approved it anyway.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
