Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
Walk out on the salt flats at the lowest point in North America and photograph the salt crust itself: where it is wet, where brine still pools or trickles, and how clean it is of tire tracks and equipment.
Salt flats, volcanic craters, sand dunes, and the lowest point in North America, all within the largest national park outside Alaska. Thousands of unpatented mining claims persist inside its boundaries. The push to reopen them for lithium treats this park as a stockpile rather than a sanctuary.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
