Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
Photograph the old Native trade routes where they cross open desert: the worn footpath traces, rock alignments and cleared trail lines, with the lava flows or dunes in the frame. No coordinates, just dated wide and close shots.
Ancient lava flows, towering sand dunes, and Native American trade routes that have linked desert communities for millennia, all in a vast corridor connecting Joshua Tree to the Mojave Preserve. Now on the monument review list, 1.6 million acres of irreplaceable desert treated as expendable.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
