Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
Paddle the bay shallows nearest Turkey Point's cooling canals. Photograph the bottom through the water: seagrass or bare mud, water color and clarity, any algae mats, and fish or wading birds using that stretch.
A nuclear power plant is leaking radioactive water into a national park, and the federal government just extended its license to 80 years. Turkey Point's aging cooling canals have been contaminating Biscayne Bay with tritium and driving a hypersaline plume toward the drinking water supply of three million people.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
