Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
In the biggest, oldest stand you already walk on this BLM ground, photograph the largest standing trees with a pack or person for scale, plus dead standing snags and the closed canopy overhead. Shoot a nearby even-aged replanted patch too, for contrast.
Two and a half million acres of the most productive forestland in the world, and BLM wants to quadruple the logging. The new resource management plan targets old-growth forests and mature stands that harbor spotted owls, marbled murrelets, and salmon. This is the biggest public lands logging decision in a generation, and most people have never heard of it.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
