Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
Photograph the spring pools themselves: water level against the rock and bank edges, how far the outflow runs before it soaks away, and any wet ground going dry. Same spots, same angles, each visit.
Spring-fed wetlands in the Amargosa Valley harboring more endemic species per acre than anywhere else in the United States. Ash Meadows was nearly destroyed by a housing development before it became a refuge. Groundwater pumping and mining activity could still drain the springs that make this desert oasis possible.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
