Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
In the big unlogged timber near Prince William Sound, photograph the largest standing trees with a pack or person beside them for scale, plus standing dead snags and the closed canopy overhead.
Tidewater glaciers calving into fjords, salmon runs sustaining brown bears and eagles by the thousands, 5.4 million acres wrapping around Prince William Sound. The Chugach is still recovering from the Exxon Valdez disaster. Rolling back its Roadless Rule protections would open old-growth forests to logging in a landscape that hasn't finished healing from the last industrial catastrophe.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
