Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
If you get out over the canyons and seamounts, photograph what is working there now that fishing reopened: boats, the gear on deck, and above all any pieces of old deep-sea coral or sponge hauled up in the nets.
Underwater canyons deeper than the Grand Canyon and four extinct volcanoes rising from the Atlantic floor. Deep-sea corals thousands of years old live in these waters, the first marine monument in the Atlantic. The fishing industry wanted the protections gone, and in 2026 the administration delivered: a final rule reopened the monument to commercial fishing.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
