Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
On the Green through Desolation or Labyrinth Canyon, photograph the river's edge where side canyon springs and seeps come in: clear or muddy water, the green streamside brush, and any animal tracks at the water.
The last free-flowing major tributary of the Colorado River winds through Desolation Canyon, Labyrinth Canyon, and some of the most spectacular river country on the continent. Oil and gas leases along its corridor threaten the water supply for 40 million Americans downstream. What happens to the Green happens to the entire West.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
