Nothing is open on this one today. It is a place the Corps keeps an eye on, so we see the paperwork the day it lands.
Photograph the sawgrass prairie water itself: how deep or dry it is against a fixed marker like a bridge piling or trail post, same spot each visit, plus any dead freshwater plants where salt is creeping in.
The river of grass is dying. Decades of water diversion starved the Everglades of the sheet flow that once defined it, and now saltwater is pushing into its freshwater heart. The largest ecosystem restoration project in American history just had its funding slashed. Time and tide wait for no budget cycle.
Nobody is asking you to go here today. We watch this place so that the day a decision opens on it, the people who already know it hear the same week. If you are out here anyway, what you photograph now is worth more later than anything taken after the paperwork lands.
More Than Just Parks doesn’t direct where you go or what you do. Terms.
